Fire Risk is High right now for most of our fire district in Pulaski, Saline and Perry counties. The wind is the most unpredictable part of the equation as low humidity and some warm temps have starved the water out of the grass and tree debris on the ground. Any spark, flame or tossed cigarette can cause some havoc quick with the wind pushes the flame toward flammable fuel (leaves, trees, grass) on the ground. Even the professional foresters and conservationist that have been conducting controlled burns have delayed their plans until weather conditions are more favorable for managing control. Yep, the professionals with all the tools and knowledge are even taking a break when the weather is not conducive to safe burning. So, please take a break from burning until we get some rain or at least get a lot of rain to help manage the burn to an acceptable rate of burn.
Stay Safe! Don’t Burn, Please.
