Great 911 Address Markings can save TIME when SECONDS count!

🚨 SECONDS COUNT: Can We Find Your House Quickly? 🚨
Emergencies are always unplanned, and when they happen, we need to find you in a heartbeat. Whether it’s day, night, pouring rain, snowing, or in the middle of a storm, the West Pulaski Fire Department is driving as fast as safely possible to get to you.

But here’s the reality: We can’t help you quickly if we can’t find you fast.

Address signs, mailbox markings, drive way or house numbers in our fire district can be hit-or-miss, and we need your help to fix that. Here is what you need to know:

Smoke won’t guide us: About 80% of our calls are medical, trauma, or non-fire related. We aren’t looking for a column of smoke or a glow in the sky—we are looking for your house number.

GPS isn’t foolproof: We use modern tech, but GPS can stall, miscalculate, or drop you at the wrong driveway entrance. A visible, physical marker is still the ultimate insurance policy.

It’s a team effort: We often rely on a clear sequence of neighbor addresses to navigate down a dark road. If your neighbors aren’t marked, it slows us down. Everyone working together can improve the overall number markings that help us find you faster.

What you can do today:

If your numbers are highly visible: THANK YOU! You are actively helping us save lives.

If your neighbor needs a hand: Talk to them about getting a reflective sign, or consider ordering them one as an early Christmas or “just because” gift. Helping them helps you and your whole road.

A Huge Community Thank You! 🙌
We want to send a massive thank you to Marcella Grimmett for dedicatedly making these life-saving signs for over a decade. While Marcella has stepped down, we are excited to share that a new sign-maker named Matthew has stepped up and is already pumping out high-quality, reflective signs to keep our communities protected.

Can You Make A Difference?

If you have what it takes to learn the skills to be a Volunteer Firefighter, we will train you, equip you, and send you to the action when it matters most.

80% of all U.S. firefighters are volunteer. For hundreds of years, neighbors have protected their communities in times of crisis. In Central Arkansas, we are no different. Many of us are paid professionals by day and volunteer firefighters, emergency medical teams, and rescue specialists by night. Looking after our families and neighbors is a natural trait we share to ensure we protect the communities we live within.

Do you have what it takes to be a Volunteer Firefighter?

It takes a little time. It takes some effort. It takes a commitment.

But if you have the desire to bring your own skills and learn what we have to share, you can be a part of our next Rookie Class to become a Volunteer Firefighter.

Got Hydration?

Temps have been very warm lately and just maybe we get a little bit of a break in temps this week. Regardless, if you do anything exerting and don’t drink enough fluids you might be a risk of dehydration. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids if you are working outside to stay hydrated. Alternating water and sports drinks can replenish what you lose in sweat and help you maintain proper body temps. Sweating the fluids out fast than you replenish can send your body into panic mode. Know the signs of Heat Exhaustion so you can treat the symptoms before they become Heat Stroke.

Stay cool!
